What Is A Check Valve Used For?

A check valve, also known as a non-return valve or one-way valve is an essential component of many fluid handling systems. As the name implies, a check valve allows flow of fluid in only one direction and prevents any backflow. The mechanism of a check valve is simple and efficient, and it works by opening and closing on its own based on the pressure of the fluid.

The disk check valve operates by utilizing a spring-loaded disc that is pushed open by the flow of fluid. When the pressure of the backflow builds up, the flow of liquid is stopped, and the spring pushes the disk back against the valve seat, forming a tight seal that prevents any backflow.
